Mm. During my studies I constantly came across this. The scientific method was devised using philosophical thought. Descartes was definitely a "philosopher" but we rely on Cartesian dualism to this day in the basic assumptions of science.

It feels like science is book ended on one extreme with quantum physics and on the other with the hard problem of consciousness, with everything in-between being "solid" only as far as our assumptions about those two go.
